Lamentation 2

Their neighbors laughed at them, and added much afflictions. Their enemies triumphed over them, because they stop the teaching of the true Law, and the prophet receive no more vision from the Lord (v9). Our business is to fear God and walk humbly.

God bless you.

Lamentation 1

It is man’s sin that has filled the earth with sorrow, cry, sickness and death. Judah was afflicted because of the multitude of her transgressions. (v5) God requires man to repent that he may find hope and deliverance through His mercy..

God bless you.

Jeremiah 52

God used Nebuchadnezzar to destroy Judah, years later, He used his son Evil-Medorach to restore Jehoiachin and the captives from Judah. (v31-34). God is sovereign in His plan. He is in control of all things, not men.

God bless you.

If you want to know more about Evil-Medorach, there is a website that tells about him more and his works below.

Jeremiah 50

The king of Babylon was kind to Jeremiah, yet the prophet must foretell the ruin of that kingdom. God used the Babylonians to punish His people, but they abused God’s grace and consent. God has no choice but to punish them like Israel. However, Babylon shall be desolated and shall not be able to recover.

God bless you.

Jeremiah 48

The Chaldeans are to destroy the Moabites, the modern day Jordan. There will be great sorrow because they exalted themselves against the Lord (v42). Many people enjoy prosperity yet die in unrepented sins. Always remember that God’s punishment is to awaken people to repent from their sins. We should be thankful because God required us to seek Him and His salvation.

God bless you.

Jeremiah 47

The Philistines had always been enemies to Israel, in our time the name had been changed to Palestine but the land and spirit are still the same. When the Lord intends to judge the wicked, He will cut off even their helper, like Egypt and her ally Phillistines. Lesson: judgment from the Lord is underway to wicked nations. Be on guard and stay in the side of God.

God bless you.

Jeremiah 46

The strength of Egypt shall be in vain, and their wounds cannot be healed, except they repent and humble before God. A time of judgment has come. They have encroached other’s territory, now they shall be encroached on by others. But God’s people will be preserved and always be protected from intruders.

God bless you.

Jeremiah 45

It is foolishness to seek great things for ourselves, because every thing is little, and nothing is certain in this world. “I am going to break down what I have built, and pluck up what I have planted!” (v5) The Lord knows the real condition of men’s hearts, and only God can sustain our ministry through HUMILITY.

God bless you.

Jeremiah 44

Those who disobey God, grow worse and worse, and the heart is more hardened by the deceitfulness of sin. To mingle idolatry with Divine worship is hateful to God. Since they were determined to worship idols, God would go on to punish them.

God bless you.

Jeremiah 43

The men of Judah went to Egypt without knowing that God will also destroy Egypt. Men of pride preferred to follow their own wisdom than the revealed word of God, putting themselves out of God’s protection. The safest thing to do is to be in perfect harmony with God’s word.

God bless you.

Jeremiah 42

In every difficult situation, we must look to God for direction, & pray to be guided by His spirit. The Israelites sought God’s word, but when He spoke, they rejected His words. In our cease, be sure to do what God wants us to do, and don’t do something that contradicts His s command.

God bless you.

Jeremiah 41

Those who hate the worshippers of God, often put on the appearance of piety, that they may easily hurt them. The removal of a good ruler like Gedaliah, and the succession of another who is rash and ambitious (Ishmael), affects the welfare of many. As God’s people, our goal is to be bless Him and His people forever.

God bless you.

Jeremiah 40

Israel was destroyed and the people were in carried away to Babylon. Let us pray that all men, Jews and Gentiles shall be made sensible that their sin is the cause of all their miseries. “Because you people have sinned against the Lord, and not obeyed His voice, therefore this thing has come upon you” (v3).

God bless you.

Jeremiah 39

Though Jerusalem was so strong, sin provoked God to withdraw His protection. Zedekiah’s eyes was put out and shut them against the clear light of God’s word. If we will trust God in the way of duty like Jeremiah, we will be protected in time of danger.

God bless you.

Jeremiah 38

It was revealed that king Zedekiah was afraid of his men than God. “I am afraid of the Jews who have defected to the Chaldeans, lest they deliver me into their hand, and they abuse me” (v.19). The truth is, the less we fear God, the more we fear men or vice versa. The fear of God is reverence to Him, and this is the beginning of wisdom.

God bless you .

Jeremiah 37

Jeremiah was seized as a deserter and put to prison. He was accused falsely by his enemies including the king. His last action was to commit everything to God who judges all things righteously. So he obtained mercy and God gave Jeremiah favor in the eyes of the king. The Lord can make even the cells of a prison become pastures to his people.

God bless you.

Jeremiah 36

Jehoiakim did not reject the words of Jeremiah, but of the Lord for burning it into the fire (v23). Those who despise the message of God will hate it & would wish it destroyed. Emperors & religious leaders had tried to destroy our Bible for the past 2000 years, but who can stop God’s sovereign works anyway! The enmity there is against God in their evil heart. But, if we will be faithful like Jeremiah and Baruch, God’s mighty Hand will be upon us.

God bless you .

Jeremiah 35

Jonadab was famous for wisdom and humility. To stay humble and be content are always great policies, and the believers’ surest protection. Abstaining from all fleshly lusts is our Lord’s basic requirement, self-denial, to become His true disciple. Jonadab used this means for their safety in a time of trial and suffering. That’s why mercy is promised to him, and to those who will follow God’s word, and we shall find good things in so doing.

God bless you.

Jeremiah 34

God hates the princes of Israel for ignoring the sanctity of the covenant. They had broken the law of servitude above 7 years, dishonoring what they had already agreed to release their slaves (v10-11). Their minds were unstable and inconsistent. They didn’t honor their words. So God punished them by giving them liberty to sword, famine and pestilence (v17). Biblical Principle: When we say something, honor our words. Yes would be yes, and no would be no.

God bless you.

Jeremiah 33

If we expect to receive comforts from the Lord, we must call upon Him “Call to me and I will answer you, and show you great and mighty things, which you do not know” (v3). Promises are given to encourage us to pray. When sinners are forgiven, we are enabled to walk before God in peace and purity. Jesus Christ imparts righteousness to His church for He is our Righteousness.

God bless you

Jeremiah 32

Jeremiah, being in prison bought a piece of land. This was to signify, that though Jerusalem was besieged, and the land to be desolated, yet the time would come that God will bring the people back, and houses and fields should be again repossessed. “Is there anything too hard for Me?” (v27). Nothing is impossible with God, He gives hope and mercy to those who believe in His promises.

God bless you.

Jeremiah 31

The new covenant is not a new law, for Christ came not to destroy the law but to fulfill it. It is the same law but will be written in men’s heart by the “finger of the Spirit” so they can obey God faithfully and willingly. They shall know the Lord personally. Israel will be rebuilt, at the same time the Church will be built by the Lord Himself. Both will find grace and knowledge from God, a demonstration of God’s everlasting love.

God bless you.

Jeremiah 30

Though the afflictions of the Jews may last long, “but they shall be saved out of it” (v7). The Jews shall be restored again. They shall obey and hear the Messiah their King. Jesus said that all men must honor the Son as they honor the Father, and come into the service and worship of God through Him. Our gracious Lord pardons our sins that we may serve God without fear... Reading: Jeremiah 30. God bless. PF

Jeremiah 29

God’s message in the diaspora was delivered through letter writing, today through Bible. It shows that He had not forsaken His people, though they were scattered and under discipline. God knows His plan for us (v11). Even in the darkest moment of our life, always believe that God’s plan is for the better. While in NY, let us seek the goodness of the country, pray for our leaders, and serve the Lord with joy and willingness, without reluctance.

God bless you.

Jeremiah 28

Hananiah was not sent by God, and spoke a false prophecy (v2-4). His word was not a good counsel because it is about deliverance and prosperity only, without repentance. This kind of message is dangerous, and his ministry was destroyed. It is self confidence and not faith. Lesson: Don’t do something if God didn’t tell you to do, and don’t use the name of the Lord if He didn’t tell you to use. Many Christians are using and misusing His holy Name for personal gain.

God bless you.
