Joel 2

God’s promise to pour out His Spirit (v.28) has began to be fulfilled at Jerusalem in Acts 2, and was continued in the converting grace and miraculous gifts conferred on both Jews and Gentiles, even today. His promise is that whoever calls on the name of the Lord, Jesus is the name, shall be saved.

God bless you.

Joel 1

Armies of locusts were coming upon the land to eat the fruits of it (v4), while the flames had burned up all the trees (v19). Even the animals cry out to God when the streams have dried up. God is Lord of all, and has every creatures at His command. The more we delights ourselves to this world, the more we are expose in troubles.

God bless you.

Hosea 14

If Israel shall return to God and seek His face, it shall not be in vain. God will receive them graciously, take away their iniquity (v2), and heal their backsliding (v4); their long time disease. Those whom God loves, He loves them freely, not because they deserve it but by His own pleasure.

God bless you.

Hosea 13

Israel had destroyed himself by rebellion, and could not save himself. His help was from the Lord only, his King (v9). Willful sins are destructive! Unless the Lord caused His people to come back to Him, they are powerless to be in His fold. It is the Lord who gives and takes away, all in His love.

God bless you.

Hosea 12

The struggle of Jacob with the Angel (v4) is a memorial to all generations. Instead of trusting God, Israel believed in vain hope with Assyria and Egypt (v1-2). The message is continues determination not to give up till we prevail  because God’s promise is salvation and preservation.

God bless you.

Hosea 11

When Israel were helpless as children, God loved them (v1), and took care of them that they might not stumble and fall. Despite the sins and unfaithfulness, God forgave them and caused them to walk after Him. God knows how to pardon sinners, He is faithful and just to cleanse the repentant heart.

God bless you.

Hosea 10

A vine is only valuable for its fruit, and Israel’s fruit is unacceptable to God because their hearts were divided (v2). Their pretenses to the service of God were false, therefore the branch “shall be cut off utterly” (v15). As for us, be faithful in our calling in which we are called.

God bless you.

Hosea 9

God had found Israel pleasing to Him, like grapes in the wilderness, yet they followed after idolatry (v10). God had blessed them generously, but they misused God’s grace. So the blessing of the land was taken away from the, and they became wanderers among the nations (v17).

God bless you.

Hosea 8

The law (Bible) was written so that Israel may know God and worship Him, but they cared not to know. So long as men despise the truths about God's word and the ordinances of His worship, all things are “altars for sinning” (v.11). Services are acceptable to God when done according to His word through Jesus Christ.

God bless you.

Hosea 7

In the midst of their trouble, the people of Israel never thought of seeking God’s help, “none among them calls upon Me” (v.7). They are like “cake unturned” (v.8) half-baked, mixture of worship of God, and idolatry with personal pride; but they don’t notice that. Lesson: always check your heart, humility is still our best weapon.

God bless you.

Hosea 6

The pursuit of the knowledge of the Lord is the greatest thing men can do in this world. His favor is secured as the return of the morning after a dark night, and His grace is like both the latter and former rain unto the earth (v.3), which refreshes our lives and makes them fruitful with the fruit of the Holy Spirit. Praise God!

God bless you.

Hosea 4

Israel was a religious nation but there was no truth, mercy, or knowledge of God in their hearts (v.1b); something that is common to many people in the world. They rejected knowledge, forgot the law of God, asked counsel from wooden idols, therefore God will justly reject them (v6). The truth is, Satan takes full control of them and ripen for destruction.

God bless you .

Hosea 3

This chapter shows the gracious dealing of God to the fallen mankind that had gone from Him, having another gods. God is seeking us and willing to forgive our sins when we respond to His calling. Prophet Hosea is a picture of true God’s servant, willing to obey God, and forgive those that sin against him.

God bless you.

Hosea 2

Israel is God’s wife as the Christian is Christ’s bride. This chapter is warning to God’s people that impenitent person will soon be stripped of the blessings they misuse, but favor to the faithful. Let us thank God for our crosses and trials, they are reminder to us that we are one with Christ and His sufferings.

God bless you.

Hosea 1

Israel was prosperous but living in sins. Hosea foretells God’s judgment and mercy in Israel through his actual life. A wife of harlotry, children named Jezreel signifies dispersion, Lo-Ruhamah means no favor, and Lo-Ammi means not my people. But He invites them for repentance with promise of restoration (v10-11). Our God will always be merciful and loving.

God bless you.

Daniel 12

The angel told Daniel to “shut up the words and seal the scroll until the end time” (v4). In the book of Revelation, the Lamb of God is unsealing the scroll one by one until the completion of all things. The good news is, the wise shall understand, but wicked are confused. The pure shall purify themselves, but the unclean shall remain in the miry clay.

God bless you.

Daniel 11

The angel shows also the succession of the empires; Persia, Greece, Egypt, Syria, while Judea was in between their dominions. God in His providence, sets up one and pulls down the other, while the people were affected. But those who trust in Jesus will enable to stand their ground, bear their cross, and maintain their faith...

God bless you.

Daniel 10

Daniel, one of the greatest men in the Bible history cannot bear the full appearance of the divine glory; for no man can see it and live. How dreadful it would be when Christ appears to those under conviction of sin on His return. Let each one of us pray, Lord Jesus be our righteousness now & forevermore.

God bless you.

Daniel 9

Daniel prayed earnestly, and immediately an answer was sent to him. If we will be acquainted with Christ and His grace in prayer, we can expect something, for God is faithful. In this ’70 weeks’ prophecy, “the Messiah shall be cut-off, but not for Himself’”(v26) but for the sin of the world.

God bless you.

Daniel 8

This prophecy had been fulfilled 300 years before Jesus. The ‘goat from the west’ was Alexander the Great. In our time, Iran is the ancient Persia, and M. Ahmadinejab is trying to regain the former glory of his nation. Be on guard always, more prophetic events will happen in our time.

God bless you.

Daniel 7

On that day, believers will be persecuted severely by the ‘horn’ until the Ancient of Day, the Messiah, came to destroy every anti-Christian power, and to set up His own kingdom universal upon earth, and to give the believers’ full inheritance (v21-22). We are in the last days, and these may happen soon.

God bless you.

Daniel 6

Daniel was now old, yet he continued serving God and honor His name among the Gentiles. As we profess our Christian faith, let us conduct ourselves so that our most watchful critics may find no occasion for blaming us, save only in the matters of our Savior in which we walk according to Hid words.

God bless you.

Daniel 5

Belshazzar consulted Daniel to explain the writing on the wall, and it's mysteries, but never asked the way of salvation; a common attitude of the nonbelievers. As God’s servant, we should despise all gifts and rewards in this world can give (v17), but set our hearts on the eternal things above.

God bless you.

Daniel 4

Nebuchadnezzar was a great man, but great sinner too who had been humbled but graciously restored in the fold of the Most High. Pride and self-conceit are sins that torment him (v30). This chapter tells us that only God is the source of all power, wealth, and intelligence; everything that we have are His (v25), we are only stewards.

God bless you.

Daniel 3

Shadrach, Meshach and Abed-Nego believed God was able to control and overrule all the powers armed against them. If God is for us, we need not fear what man can do unto us. God will deliver us, either from death or in death. We must obey God rather than man; willing to suffer than sin; and avoid evil that good may come.

God bless you.

Daniel 2

The head of gold was Babylon, the chest and arms of silver was the Medes and Persia. The belly and thighs of bronze was Greece, the legs and feet of iron was the Roman empire. The stone cut out without hands is the kingdom of God. All were gone but God’s kingdom remains forever. Indeed, God reveals deep and secret things to His people.

God bless you.
